West Atlantic Boeing 737-300F did a Runway excursion at Montpellier airport

A cargo plane ended up in a nearby lake after problems with landing.

Montpellier airport is closed for an indefinite period to commercial flights and cargo flights as a 1993 built West Atlantic Boeing 737-300F aircraft (EC-NLS) did a Runway excursion last night at 00:37UTC, when it overran the end of runway 12L while attempting to land in stormy conditions at Montpellier Airport (LFMT), France.

Aircraft stopped near the edge of a water body. The three people on board were unharmed. An investigation is underway into the reasons for the crash of the freighter flight SWN5745 from Paris Intl. Airport (CDG).
