Cognac Airshow: Two Rafales Collide during the flying display

Two Dassault Rafales fighter aircraft collided earlier today at Cognac – Châteaubernard Air Base, France while performing a flying routine at the Cognac 2022 Airshow. The two aircraft form part of the French Air & Space Force tactical demonstration team – Vautour Bravo.

Following the collision, both aircraft managed to land safely at the airbase. Local authorities have reported that debris from the aircraft have damaged a nearby house. No injuries to the crew or members of the public have been reported.

Formed in January 2020, Vautour Bravo, is made up of two Rafale single-seaters and is assigned to the 30th Fighter Squadron based at Mont-de-Marsan (BA) 118. The team performs a 10-minute demonstration to illustrate the entire operational capabilities of their aircraft. Thus, the interception mission, the “Show of force”, simulations of attacks with “cannon passes” and “bomb passes”.
