On May 4, the shipyard of Blohm+Voss celebrated the christening of Emden, the second vessel of the second batch of German Navy K130 corvettes.

The second ship in this batch for the German Navy was begun by NVL in October 2019. The Emden-class corvette is the ninth K130 corvette overall.

The first five units were put into service between 2008 and 2013, and a contract for the second group of five units was given to a group made up of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, German Naval Yards Kiel, and Lürssen Werft in September 2017. Lürssen Werft is the group’s prime contractor.
