FS Courbet is calling to Valletta

From Tuesday 20th February till Saturday 24th February the French Navy La Fayette-Class Frigate ‘Courbet’ will be making a port call at Valletta Gateway terminals.

The ‘Courbet’ has been deployed for the past month in the Mediterranean Sea. She is calling at Malta to allow the crew to rest after several weeks of patrol in the central Mediterranean Sea.

Commissioned in active duty in 1997, the ship is 125 meters long and 15 meters wide. She is characterised by her great versatility and her ability to fulfil various missions:

  • Anti-piracy and anti-narcotics operations
  • Maritime Traffic Protection
  • Special Operations
  • Humanitarian support and non-combatant evacuation operations

Navy Captain Jeremy Montastier is the ship’s commanding officer.
