This renovation consists of:
- to integrate new technologies into existing aircraft in the tactical mission system, sensor subsystems and display consoles
- to address obsolescence
- and to bring aircraft performance to the highest levels.
The installed equipment is among the most efficient and high-performing in the aeronautical industry, such as the new Searchmaster radar from Thales which benefits from the active antenna technology developed for the Rafale.
The ATL2, a French-made maritime patrol aircraft in service since the late 1990s, was designed for armed anti-submarine warfare. It contributes to the safety and autonomy of the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) of the Strategic Oceanic Force (FOST) as well as to the protection of naval forces in operation.
The ATL2 thus contributes to the control of the air-maritime environment, from the coast to the open sea; it can also be configured to carry out various missions such as airborne support for land combat and intelligence gathering.
Furthermore, the 2024-2030 military programming law provides for the replacement by 2035 of the ATL2s by future maritime patrol aircraft (PATMAR FUTUR).
