After a Hawk T2 crashed close to RAF Valley, the RAF temporarily suspended Hawk T1 and T2 operations, which affected the Red Arrows and fast-jet training.
A Hawk T2 crashed shortly after takeoff from RAF Valley in North Wales on Wednesday, putting additional strain on a fast-jet training fleet already dealing with availability issues. As a precaution, the Royal Air Force temporarily suspended all Hawk T1 and T2 flying.
According to North Wales Police, there have been no reports of more serious injuries or damage, and the two pilots are receiving treatment for what are thought to be minor wounds.
The choice affects more than only RAF Valley’s Hawk T2 training fleet. Additionally, it covers the Red Arrows’ older Hawk T1 aircraft, which could have an impact on the aerobatic team’s remaining appearances this season.
The accident’s cause is still unknown.
