Fincantieri and TUI Cruises (a joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.) signed a contract for the design and construction of two new cruise ships. This order replaces the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in March 2025 with TUI AG for the construction of two ships for the Marella Cruises brand.
The vessels, which will be delivered in 2031 and 2032 respectively, will be sister ships to “Mein Schiff Relax” and “Mein Schiff Flow”—part of the InTUItion class—and will be powered by dual-fuel engines (LNG and MGO). With a gross tonnage of approximately 160,000 tons, the new ships will be larger than those initially planned for Marella Cruises and will be built to the latest environmental standards.
“ We are pleased to expand our partnership with the TUI Cruises brand, further strengthening our relationship with both TUI and Royal Caribbean. This contract confirms the trust we have built over time and the successful collaboration already started with the first two InTUItion-class ships. It also confirms Fincantieri’s ability to support the fleet growth of the world’s leading cruise operators, combining innovation, sustainability, and the excellence of Italian shipbuilding. ”
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri
The value of the order, subject to financing and other terms and conditions typical of this type of contract, is higher than that envisaged in the initial MoA for the Marella Cruises brand, while remaining within the threshold communicated on March 31, 2025.
