Two pilots are killed as Indian AF MiG-21 crashes in Barmer

- A court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Yesterday evening, a Mig-21 “Bison” fighter jet carrying two Indian Air Force pilots crashed in the Barmer region of Rajasthan.

Around 9.10 p.m., while flying at night, a twin-seater MiG-21 trainer that had taken off from the Uttarlai airbase crashed close to the village of Bhimda. Both of the pilots died from their wounds. Images from the scene showed flames spreading out from the fighter’s wreckage across a wide region.

The Indian AF deeply regrets the loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families.
