Another visit from NATO’s MMU aircraft

Earlier in the afternoon we saw the third aircraft from the fleet of Airbus MRTT belonging to NATO’s Multinational Multirole Tanker Transport Unit (MMU).

The aircraft flew from Cologne to Malta and later the aircraft departed the island. MMU aircraft are owned by NATO and managed by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) with the support of the Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) on the acquisition phase.

The total number of aircraft should be of nine with five of them based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands while the other four in Cologne, Germany.

The Multi-role tanker transport aircraft are able to provide strategic transport, air-to-air refuelling and medical evacuation capabilities to its six participating nations, these countries are Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Norway.
