Poland will purchase FA-50 fighter jets from South Korea

Poland will upgrade its current fixed-wing combat aviation forces with the addition of South Korean-made FA-50 Fighting Eagle aircraft from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).

The idea received the endorsement of Mariusz Baszczak, deputy prime minister and minister of national defense, as part of a larger bilateral defense purchase deal between the two countries that was disclosed today July 27.

In accordance with the deal, the Polish Air Force would add 48 FA-50 aircraft to its current fleet of 48 Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 50+ Fighting Falcons in order to equip three front-line squadrons.

The FA-50 aicraft will completely replace the Su-22 and Mig-29 aircraft in the Polish inventory.
