Italian Navy Luigi Durand de la Penne destroyer visits Valletta

Nave Luigi Durand de la Penne is the lead ship of the Durand de la Penne-class destroyer of the Italian Navy has entered the Grand Harbour early today Saturday 15th April.

This is the second visit of the vessel in Valletta after its maiden port call in November 2013.

The ship will be open to the general public tomorrow Sunday 16th April between 10am and noon and between 330pm and 6pm.

The Durand de Le Penne-class of escort and combat ships were specifically designed to withstand powerful missile and aircraft attacks. They are capable of operating in all types of combat situations. The structure is a continuous deck with a low, big stern to support the two helicopter hangars, and its construction is entirely constructed of steel.
