Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has added several new features and options to the popular super-midsize Gulfstream G280 as investment in the aircraft and interest in the segment continue. The enhancements include improvements to the passenger experience, a streamlined pilot workload and overall safety benefits.

“We are seeing tremendous demand for the G280, further proving the aircraft is the high-performing super-midsize leader,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “We remain confident in the G280’s proven track record and are committed to investing in enhancements that further increase the benefits it offers customers.”

New Cabin Options

To enhance passenger comfort and wellness, the G280 can now be equipped with Gulfstream’s plasma ionization clean air system. The system, which complements Gulfstream’s already 100%-fresh-air cabin environment, has proven in lab tests to neutralize pathogens and allergens.

New Optional Features

A series of additional new avionics features are now available for customers who choose avionics upgrade V3.6.1, including SiriusXM graphical weather with real-time updates; dual electronic charts to help create a paperless flight deck and reduce pilot workload; a surface management system (SMS), which provides aural and visual cues to alert pilots to unsafe ground and arrival operations and helps prevent runway incursions; as well as access to vertical weather and predictive windshear information, allowing pilots ample time to avoid weather issues in flight.

In addition, to reduce customer downtime, Gulfstream also increased the G280’s vertical separation minimum validation intervals from 24 to 96 months. Controller-Pilot Datalink Communication (CPDLC) is also now FANS-E compliant.

The G280 is certified for steep approaches, providing access to some of the world’s most challenging airports, and has recently been certified to the Federal Aviation Administration’s stringent Stage 5 noise standards. It is the only aircraft in its class with Visual Advantage credit, giving select operators authorization to dispatch and begin instrument approaches in low-visibility conditions below published approach minima. The well-appointed cabin offers multiple floorplan options and seats up to 10 passengers with a four-place conference table. It features Gulfstream’s exclusive cabin management and high-definition entertainment systems, 19 large oval windows, access to baggage at high altitudes and multiple connectivity options, including a high-speed Ka-band satellite system.
