Germany closer to get the F-35

The Pentagon announced Monday that the U.S. State Department had cleared a potential sale of F-35 fighter planes, ammunition, and supporting equipment to Germany for an estimated $8.4 billion.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to strengthen his nation’s military. This led to the probable purchase of the sophisticated stealth fighter.

Raytheon Technologies, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin are the principal subcontractors for the project.
