Formula 1, Monza: the Frecce Tricolori will kick off the Grand Prix

The Italian National Aerobatic Team, the Frecce Tricolori will fly over the starting grid of the Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix of Italy.

On Sunday 11 September, the well-established union between the world of Formula 1 and the Air Force will be renewed at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. On the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, in fact, 9 MB-339 PAN aircraft will fly over the starting grid of the race, spreading the longest Tricolor in the world.

The flight of the Frecce Tricolori will take place on the last notes of the Mameli Hymn which for the occasion will be sung by Maestro Andrea Bocelli accompanied by the Air Force Music Band. The overflight on the Autodromo Nazionale Monza is now a traditional appointment much appreciated by lovers of the automotive and aeronautical world.

Speed, innovation, technology, engines and team spirit have always been common to the Air Force Flight Departments and the Formula 1 stables. service of the country in the imprint of innovation and modernity.

This year the overflight will also be an opportunity to celebrate the centenary of the “Temple of Speed”, built in Monza in 1922, at the dawn of Italian motoring history.
