“Mein Schiff Flow” delivered in Monfalcone

Fincantieri and TUI Cruises, a joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises, celebrated the delivery of “Mein Schiff Flow” at the Monfalcone shipyard, the second of two new-concept dual-fuel (Liquefied Natural Gas – LNG and Marine Gas Oil – MGO) InTUItion class cruise ships.

The delivery ceremony was attended by the Prefect of Gorizia, Ester Fedullo, the Mayor of Monfalcone, Luca Fasan, the civil and military authorities of the area, Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, Biagio Mazzotta, President of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri, Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of the Merchant Ships Division of Fincantieri, Cristiano Bazzara, Director of the Monfalcone shipyard.

With a gross tonnage of approximately 160,000 tons and a capacity of approximately 4,000 passengers, “Mein Schiff Flow” is based on a next-generation project developed by Fincantieri to combine innovation and sustainability, placing energy efficiency at the center with the aim of reducing operational consumption and minimizing environmental impact, in full compliance with the latest regulatory standards.

“With the delivery of Mein Schiff Flow, we celebrate a new milestone in our collaboration with TUI Cruises and confirm the strategic role of the Monfalcone shipyard as a center of excellence in the global shipbuilding industry, here, innovation, sustainability, and industrial expertise are transformed every day into production capacity and international competitiveness. This achievement demonstrates the strength of an ecosystem that continues to evolve, investing in future technologies and enhancing Italian industrial know-how. I would like to thank all the people who, with professionalism, passion, and commitment, have contributed to making this important milestone possible.”

Designed to be propelled by LNG, “Mein Schiff Flow” is also prepared for the use of low-emission alternative fuels, such as bio-LNG or e-LNG. The ship will be equipped with catalytic converters (Euro 6 compliant) and a steam turbine that uses waste heat from diesel generators, as well as a power connection to the dock. This will ensure virtually emission-free operation during port calls (approximately 40% of operating time). An innovative and efficient waste treatment system is also on board, capable of transforming organic substances into recyclable components through a thermal process.

The delivery of “Mein Schiff Flow” confirms a partnership between Fincantieri and TUI Cruises based on mutual trust and solid industrial collaboration. This includes the contract signed last September for the construction of two new InTUItion-class ships, sister ships to “Mein Schiff Relax” and “Mein Schiff Flow,” which will be delivered in 2031 and 2032, respectively. The ships will be built to the most advanced environmental standards, further strengthening the relationship with TUI Cruises and Royal Caribbean and confirming Fincantieri’s ability to support the growth of the world’s leading cruise operators.

The delivery also consolidates Monfalcone’s central role in the construction of next-generation cruise ships and the Group’s main shipyard. Over 45 cruise ships have been built at the shipyard, employing approximately 6,500 people daily. The shipyard represents a key industrial and employment engine for the region and a key asset for innovation and the evolution of shipbuilding.
