Today the 2nd of June is the ‘Festa della Repubblica’, the Italian National Day and Republic Day, with the main celebration taking place in Rome. The Festa della Repubblica is one of the national symbols of Italy. In Malta an Aeronautcia Militare (Italian Air Force) 82nd centre CSAR of the 15 Stormo based in Trapani which is currently in Malta for training with the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) flew a flag flypast along Marsamxett harbour with an AW139 of the AFM leading the formation.

The Maltese AW139 held the Maltese National Flag while the Italian HH139 held a rescuer with the Italian National Flag. The flypast took place there since the Italian Ambassador’s residence is in Ta’ Xbiex. Both helicopters entered Marsamxett Harbour from the east coast and continued flying along until they circled and flew right on top of the residence of the Italian Ambassador.
